Issue when searching (collaboration)
Lucas Schricke
First of all, thanks for this very useful app! :)
Here is the issue I'm having:
Searching does not seem to work on multiple collections when the collections were shared with you. It does work when you own them, but not when someone shared them with you.
To reproduce :
- Have someone share with you two collections with item A in collection 1 and item B in collection 2.
- With collection 1 selected, search for item B, it will say "Nothing found in other collections" even though it exists in collection 2.
Thanks! :)

Unfortunately, shared collections currently have some limitations:
• Collaborators cannot view tags from shared collections in their sidebar or in tag field autosuggestions.
• Collaborators won’t be able to find bookmarks from shared collections when searching under “All bookmarks.”
• Shared bookmarks are not included in the “All bookmarks” section of their account.
To search and view tags within a shared collection, collaborators can follow these steps:
- Navigate to the shared collection.
- Click on the search field.
- Enable “in current collection.”
- After this, search results and tag suggestions will include items from the shared collection.
These steps only need to be done once. After that, searches will display results from the shared collection as expected.
We apologize for the inconvenience; these issues will be resolved in future updates.

Bug in "Everywhere" Search: Does not search shared collection
I
Intelogist
Problem description:
When two/more users share a bookmark collection, the owner/creator of the collection can use the "EVERYWHERE" filter to search the shared collection and find both bookmarks AND subfolders in the collection.
The person(s) accessing the shared collection can only find subfolders (in the quick results shown while typing the search term); bookmarks are not returned by the search engine when using the "EVERYWHERE" filter.
Workaround:
The person(s) accessing the shared collection can seemingly only find bookmarks in the shared collection by first selecting the name of the shared bookmark collection and then using the filter "IN CURRENT COLLECTION". This works and is a helpful workaround, but it would be great if "EVERYWHERE" meant truly everywhere for everyone accessing the collection as, otherwise, it would mean that users accessing multiple shared collections would have to search each of them separately.
The behaviour (both the inability to search "EVERYWHERE" and the workaround by selecting the collection name before searching) is present in the Windows client app and on the web.
Cheers 🤞🏻
PS: not entirely certain, but this behaviour might be fixed once/after this planned feature request is complete: https://raindropio.canny.io/feature-requests/p/shared-collection-bookmarks-added-into-your-all-bookmarks-sidebar-tags. It sounds likely.

Rustem Mussabekov Hi, I wanted to follow these steps, but after I navigated to shared collection in the latest version of the mobile app there is no such thing as "in current collection" to be enabled.

The issue still persists, 4 years later.
I shared a collection with a friend, but they don't get any search results for items that are obviously there. Moreover they don't get list of tags from this collection on their home screen.

Search functionality not working

I have shared my collection with colleagues but they do not have full text search functionality. There also seems to be a flaw with the search logic when searching within a collection (eg it pulls up 14 results), and when searching "everywhere" (it will only then pull up 8 results).
We have just switched over to the annual cycle so we're hoping this can be resolved before the payments go out as we'd like to commit to this long term and are hoping the search issue is just a bug.

Collaborative collections not appearing in search results or in “all items”
Nikolai Justesen
I have invited a fellow Raindrop user to collaborate with me on multiple collections. After accepting the invite, they are able to see the collections and add items to it. But none of the items in any of the shared collections show up in their “all items” section. They are also unable to find any of the items in shared collections by searching from the root of the collections overview. Only if they search within the specific shared collection where an item resides, are they able to find it through search. As the owner of the collection, don’t experience any of these issues, but my collaborator does. We are both using the iOS app and web app.

When sharing a collection the shared tags do not show up on the person's tag filtering selection.

Still got this issue today. It make the search require an addtional "focus folder" step.
This also make content in shared folder would not show in "all bookmarks" folder. It is also excluded when backup.

We ran into a similar issue to this. Searching in "Everything" does not find results in shared folders

Found the same nasty issue. Tags not shown under the tag section and if you type tag manually it can't find any video in account I shared access with.

Noticed this today as well. It makes sharing pretty useless honestly.
You can search for shared items when you're in the shared folder, but they only sometimes show up when you perform a global search.
This looks like some kind of indexing issue.
