Preview images vanished

More than half of all preview images suddenly vanished in both the Web and Mac versions. Also with newly clipped bookmarks they are not saved anymore.

A large number of preview images are missing

I often select images from webpages and save them as preview images in Raindrop.io to prevent losing them in the future if the webpage disappears. This is one of the main reasons I use Raindrop.io. However, I’ve noticed that a significant proportion of the preview images from saved webpages in some of my collections have gone missing. Since the original webpages are no longer available, these valuable preview images are now impossible to recover.
Could this be due to a malfunction or bug in Raindrop.io’s storage system, causing the permanent loss of the preview images I spent so much time and effort selecting and saving? Is there any chance of recovery?
Raindrop.io is a great bookmark management tool that I really like, but I hope it can offer basic data storage security to give users peace of mind when using it.

I had the same thing happen. I don't know if your scenario is exactly like mine. I was saving the url of the image as a bookmark thinking that uploaded the image to Raindrop. But when the original webpage moved or deleted the image, I could no longer see it in Raindrop. When I went to the FAQ I found that only paid accounts get bookmarked images backed up in Raindrop. Now I download the image first, then in Raindrop, do Add Image and specify the file I downloaded which does upload it to Raindrop. There is a data limit for free accounts. I was able to recover the lost images from the bookmark icons. I logged into raindrop.io in a browser (I couldn't find the option I needed in the app), opened the collection, clicked the box to select all bookmarks, clicked the down arrow button, selected CSV, and downloaded the file. I opened it in Excel which is easier to read, but you could also open it in a text editor. In my case the cover column pointed to a full size image that still existed. I was able to download those and upload to Raindrop again. It was a bit of work, but worth it to me to not lose the images. I tried this process again with some sample images and the url to the cover isn't a raindrop url anymore, so something may have changed since I did it. It's worth a try, though.

Don Thank you for your message. I am a paid user. The issue was caused by the unreliability of Raindrop.io's storage system. Many of the cover images for bookmarks I saved earlier have been lost, and the original webpages and images no longer exist, making it impossible to re-download or recover them.

I'm experiencing the same issue recently (both in web view and android apps). Approx. half of the cover images are constantly missing in almost every collection. Manual refreshing does not work.
It happens even with bookmarks that had a custom cover image assigned, so it definetely is not a problem with broken links or external server.

Same here. Changing VPN country no go either. Also Beta app updated today and now doesn't work on my or my partners devices.

So i fixed it with using VPN from other country and refreshing app.
What's up with that? You block preview loading for some countries?
