There are many features here that the community could help make if we could contribute.

Everything that can reasonably be open-sourced is already on our GitHub: https://github.com/raindropio
The server side will not be open-sourced, and we won’t be offering a self-hosted version. There’s no realistic way to make that sustainable or profitable.

Isn't it? At least the code is public here: https://github.com/raindropio

Also, an OpenSource licence alone does not mean that its future proof. I learned that the hard way when Omnivore shut down suddenly and no one was able to fork the project because the code was such a mess...

Ability to use own cloud

Requirement (if I understand correctly) to use Raindrop's own cloud server on AWS is a deal breaker for me. I use OneDrive and, now that MS has ruined Collections, I would jump at Raindrop if it supported user's own cloud or database backend. I'd be happy to pay the same price.
(I'm migrating back to Favourites which turns out also to be partially broken!)

Ability to install our own instance

Download and install an instance of Raindrop.io on our personal server. My issue with Raindrop is... if it goes bankrupt, then we lose it all, which happened to every other apps that I tried in the past. If we had our own instance, at least we could continue to use it as is.

Self hosting would be incredible.

The great app. For more security I need standalone my own virtual server.

Unfortunately I can't open-source backend, at least in near future. But all apps will be open-sourced
