Please Allow Users to Re-download Permanent Copy
Julian Torres
Sometimes I save README's from Github to read later (there are often some really helpful explanations that I really want to use as a reference for later). However, due to the nature of Git, these things can change. It's be nice if it were possible to tell Raindrop to "re-download" the permanent copy that is stored on the server so that its index is as up to date as possible for the given page.
I'd imagine this would need to be manually initiated by the user, and not a default behavior. Wouldn't want these pages to start pointing to dead links that once existed but the original poster removed for some reason.

If I understand what you mean, it's creating new permanent copy snapshots of a page on demand, like this request:

This should be a feature that launched alongside permanent copy, why the team ignore the for TWO YEARS?

I too would like a way to manually trigger a re-download, especially after a "Unfortunately, we can't save this page! Origin is unreachable."

I would love to be able to update the permanent copy of a bookmarked page with a new version of the page (without having to delete the old bookmark and recreate a new one). Since pages change periodically, being able to manually generate a new permanent copy would be great.

Gary M. Gordon (StepAheadWeb.com) This would be so helpful! I'd also like to be able to upload my own permanent copies, either in the form of web archives or screenshots. I have so many permanent copies that contain little to no information because they're behind logins or otherwise inaccessible. In most of those cases, I could easily create my own archive or screenshot the important parts. Adding them as preview images doesn't make them accessible. Saving screenshots as separate bookmarks is clunky. It's too easy to lose track of one or the other, since there's no way to link the two together.
Permanent copies would be such a power tool if they could be customized or updated. One of the biggest things missing from bookmarking (in general) is the ability to save
all
the important aspects of pages, which you can't always do with just highlights. The parts need to be linked in some way, ideally with some sort of sitemap-like hierarchy. Permanent copy versions could achieve some form of that without all the complications of dealing with live versions.Matthias Lampe
have a similar use case where I would like a permanent copy to be updated manually and not automatically.
